Topic: IT FELL ON STONY GROUND
Biblical Text: ‘ But he that received the seed into stony places, the same is he that heareth the Word and anon with joy receiveth it!’ [Matthew 13:20]
Lawrence was a Christian. He believed in God and His Word. He had a challenge in his job and was subsequently sacked. He felt ashamed that he could not render the help he freely did before; he was struggling financially. He had prayed and prayed, nothing happened; he could not bear it any longer. He decided to consult a traditionalist to turn his fortunes around. Lawrence allowed the Word to fall on a stony place in his heart/life. To fall on stony ground means a believer that receives the Word of God with joy, a diligent hearer of the Word but does not allow the Word to take root in his life and when tribulation and persecution arises because of the Word, he shrinks back, drops his religion and fall away. There are so many ‘self-calling’ Christians that seek the help of traditionalist to help them during their trials in life. They have fallen from the faith. Christians who are diligent hearers of the Word yet they do not mind forging papers or even changing their names to travel abroad have allowed the Word to fall on stony ground in their lives. The children of Israel heard the Word of God, they saw the miracles but when persecutions came, they changed their tunes. What is your response during tribulation and persecution? As a good Christian, we must trust in His Word and not abandon it to pursue quicker alternatives that will bring shame. Never will the Word fall on stony ground in your life in Jesus Name.
KNOW IT ∞ Do not be a diligent hearer of the Word that abandons it at the slightest persecution.
READ IT ∞ Exodus 16:3, 17:3, 32:1
PRAY IT ∞ Father, give me the grace not to abandon your Word during persecution.
