Topic: MISSIONARY STORY- AMY CARMICHAEL
Biblical Text: “ Therefore my beloved brethren, be steadfast, immovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, knowing that your labour is not in vain in the Lord”. [1 Corinthians 15:58]

Amy Beatrice Carmichael was born on December 16, 1867 in the village on the northern coast of Ireland. Young Carmichael was a precocious child who spent her days exploring. Amy’s hunger for adventure repeatedly got her into trouble. God placed clear spiritual guideposts in Amy Carmichael’s life to lead her on the road to India. Amy gave her life to Christ when she was sixteen years old. She attended series of Christian meeting that made her grow spiritually. On a snowy night, January 13, 1892, twenty four year old Amy spent the evening in her room in prayers reflecting on the lost and dying millions throughout the world. As clearly as if she heard her mother’s voice, she heard the words, ‘Go ye’ in her heart. Everything around her seemed to be repeating, ‘Go ye’. In God’s providence, she received a letter from a friend in Bangalore, India writing her to join the Church of England mission there. Amy was delighted. She accepted the offer. Amy was a selfless missionary who dedicated her life to loving the unloved children of southern India; transforming thousands of India lives in more than fifty five years of service. Amy saw the Christian life as a chance to die to oneself, so that Christ might be revealed. Amy often declared about her hardworking toil among the people of India, ‘I would rather burn out than rust out!’ At the time of Amy’s death, over half a million of her books had been printed in English. Several titles had been translated into 15 different languages and twelve had been printed in Braille. Amy made impact for Christ; receive grace to impact your generation too!

THUS SAITH THE LORD

Date: 30.03.2021

Topic: THUS SAITH THE LORD
Biblical Text: “ So shall my word be that goeth forth out of my mouth: it shall not return unto me void, but it shall accomplish that which I please, and it shall prosper in the thing where I sent it”. [Isaiah 55:11]

God told Prophet Elijah to arise and go to Zarephath, God said, ‘Behold, I have commanded a widow there to sustain you in the famine’. Elijah might have thought she is a wealthy widow; he arose excitedly and went to Zarephath. On getting there, he realized that the widow was in a more precarious situation than he was. There was famine in the land where she was; she was gathering sticks to eat her last meal with her son, and die from the famine afterwards. But Elijah told her to go and make the little cake left for him. He told the woman, ‘thus saith the Lord God of Israel, the barrel of meal shall not waste neither shall the cruise of oil fail, until the day that the Lord sends rain upon the earth. The event played out according to the Word of the Lord. ‘Thus saith the Lord’ is an affirmative statement from the Lord, except He alters it; it will remain unaltered until it becomes accomplished as the Lord has said it. It is the Lord that says a word, forms it and establishes it. The Bible contains 1,189 chapters, 31,102 verses and 80,736 words of the Lord all formed and established. You must discover what God says concerning you in His Word, meditate on it and take it seriously;it will surely come to pass in your life.

KNOW IT ∞ Every Word of the Lord is formed and established; take it seriously.
READ IT ∞ Isaiah 7:7, 1 Kings 17:14-16, Jeremiah 33:2-3
PRAY IT ∞ Father, I reverence you because none of your Word goes unaccomplished.

HOUSEHOLD CHORES

Date: 29.03.2021
Topic: HOUSEHOLD CHORES
Biblical Text: “Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it.”. [Proverbs 22:6]
Growing up, I had an uncle that stayed in our house. He used to complain that he does virtually all the work in the house. Sometimes, he would say my father was not caring enough; why should he be made to work so hard? After a while, he travelled to Lagos, Nigeria to start a business. After about a year in Lagos, Nigeria, he came back to check on us briefly. Then he opened up to tell my father that all he learned in our house had been very useful to him in his new environment. He thanked my father for the trainings that made him become a man. There are some parents that do not allow their children to do any house hold chores at home since they have house help. Some brag among their friends about the laziness of their children who do not engage in any domestic chores. I met a man-a servant who told me that in the house he was working; he must be on stand by and cook for the children anytime they are hungry. One of them was an 18 year old girl who did not know how to prepare anything….even noodles. To allow your children to do household chores is training them to be responsible adults and parents in the future. Household chores teach your children to become loving and responsible adults. It teaches them team work, respect, life skills and even effective planning. Parents are not to pamper their children; they must let them do household chores. Beloved, household chores helps you to grow up physically and mentally to be responsible and loving adults in the future.

KNOW IT ∞ Household chores mentally prepare you for the future. It helps you to be responsible and loving adults in the future.
READ IT ∞ Ecclesiastes 3:22, Philippians 2:14-15
PRAY IT ∞ Father, by your grace, I will develop to a responsible and loving adult as I do my household chores.

SIBLING RIVALRY

Date: 28.03.2021

Topic: SIBLING RIVALRY
Biblical Text: “ And when his brethren saw that their father loved him more than all his brethren, they hated him and could not speak peaceably unto him’. And Joseph dreamed a dream, and he told it his brethren: and they hated him yet the more”. [Genesis 37:4-5]

Sibling rivalry can be attributed to a lot of factors. In some homes, the parents show special love and attention to a child at the expense of the others. This can cause siblings rivalry. Israel showed he loved Joseph more than the other siblings and because of that they hated him and even plotted to kill him. As parents, we must not show that we love one child more than others; it breeds rivalry. This is also the case of father loving one child and the mother loving the other child, as in the case of Esau and Jacob. Sibling’s rivalry can also arise when parents constantly appreciate one child for his talents and underappreciate the other children. Every child is special and deserves appreciation. As parents, we must desist from doing this. Cain killed Abel because he saw him as a rival. As parents we must love our children equally. You must use the same yardstick of correction and appreciation to all your children. There must be no favoritism. Every child is gifted, unique and special in their own way. Beloved, we are not to compete with our siblings, rather we are to understand our uniqueness and complement one another.

KNOW IT ∞ Parents must love all their children equally; there must be no favoritism.
READ IT ∞ Genesis 4:8, 27:41, 25:26
PRAY IT ∞ Father, I receive grace to love all my siblings/children equally

REARING UP A FAMILY ALTAR

Date: 27.03.2021

Topic: REARING UP A FAMILY ALTAR
Biblical Text: “ And thou shalt teach them diligently unto thy children, and shalt talk of them when thou sittest in thine house and when thou walkest by the way and when thou liest down and when thou risest up”. [Deuteronomy 6:7]

Family altar simply means family Bible study, prayers and worship time. Every Christian family should have such a time daily. It amazes me to see that so many Christian families find it difficult to set time apart daily as a family to commune with God, they sometimes try to give attention to their Church altar and hope it can effectively take the place of family altar. Sorry, it cannot! Fellowshipping in Church is good but equally important is family altar. Family altar is a platform for parents to diligently teach their children in their houses so that they do not depart from the way of understanding. I struggled as a teen spiritually because we did not imbibe the culture of family altar in our home. Family altar helps build our spiritual lives in prayers, word and worship. Also, family altar helps builds unity in the home. You would have heard, ‘ a family that prays together, stays together’ . Also, family problems are solved in the family altars. In family altar, we can spend time to intercede for others like pastors, missionaries, sick people, saints, new converts and unsaved souls. Every parent has a ministry which is partly done on the family altar. Rear up a family altar today; if it needs repair quickly do it and enjoy family fellowship in the presence of the most High God.

KNOW IT ∞ Family altar is important in every Christian home.
READ IT ∞ Deuteronomy 6:4-7, 1 Kings 18:30, 2 Samuel 24:18
PRAY IT ∞ Father, give my family the grace to raise up a family altar for your glory.
