Topic: IT FELL BY THE WAYSIDE
Biblical Text: “ When anyone heareth the Word of the kingdom and understandeth it not, then cometh the wicked one and catcheth away that which was sown in his heart. This is he which received by the wayside’. [Matthew 13:19]
Kike, Kike, Kike, her mother called out! What did you learn from Church today? Kike could not remember anything about the message in the Church. She muttered, ‘Mummy, I cannot remember, but the message was powerful’. Kike allowed the Word of God to fall by the wayside. To fall by the wayside means to be a careless, inattentive, negligent and forgetful hearer of the Word. So many Christians are in this category, they hear the Word of God but It passes away quickly as they hear it. Their affection is not touched by what they hear; their heart is not open to receive the Word and they allow the devil to take the Word sown in their hearts. The devil steals the Word profitable to direct them from their memory. The people of Lystra acted like a careless hearer of the Word; they allowed the Word to fall by the wayside. Paul and his team preached the Word at Lystra, signs and wonders erupted yet almost immediately they allowed certain Jews to persuade them in stoning Paul almost to death. They were careless with the Word and allowed it to pass away quickly. If they had committed to heart all that Apostle Paul had told them, they would never have stoned him. We must not be a careless hearer of the Word. We must take the Word of God seriously and commit it to heart in order for it to produce fruit of righteousness in our lives and the people we come in contact with.
KNOW IT ∞ Do not be a negligent & careless hearer of the Word.

PRAY IT ∞ Father, give me the grace not to be a careless hearer of the Word.
