MISSIONARY STORY – DAVID LIVINGSTONE

Topic: MISSIONARY STORY- DAVID LIVINGSTONE (1813-1873)
Biblical Text: ‘ Also I heard the voice of the Lord saying, whom shall I send, and who will go for us? Then said I, here am I, send me’ . [Isaiah 6:8]

God send me anywhere, only go with me. Lay any burden on me, only sustain me. And sever any tie in my heart, except the tie binds my heart to yours said David Livingstone. He was ready to go where no man has gone for God. David Livingstone is celebrated as Africas greatest missionary and the most famous of the nineteenth century British explorers. His heroic role as a missionary/explorer yielded astonishing results in the geographical mapping of Africas interior. He was the first European to travel over 40,000 miles in Africa largely on foot and with no prior knowledge of what was hidden in the vast wasteland. He was undaunted by fears of the unknown and had an unyielding tenacity to complete whatever task lay before him, he was dedicated to opening Africa for Christianity. Dependent on divine guidance, Livingstone became one of Gods missionary generals who committed his life to this three Cs: Christianity, Civilization and Commerce. He was convinced that advancing these three objectives would ultimately bring Christ to Africa. And he was determined to succeed no matter the cost. His relentless driving force was based on the same vision of Apostle Paul, So I have strived to preach the Gospel, not where Christ was named, lest I should build upon another mans foundation.
KNOW IT ∞ Be prepared to allow God to send you anywhere for His work.
READ IT ∞ Romans 15:20
PRAY IT ∞ Father, I am ready to go anywhere you want to send me.

IS IT PRIDE?

Date: 30.01.2021

Topic: IS IT PRIDE?
Biblical Text: “ Are not Abana and Pharpar rivers of Damascus better than all the waters of Israel? May I not wash in them and be clean? So he turned and went away in a rage’ . [2 Kings 5:12]

Naaman was a great and honourable man in the land of Syria but he was a leper. Hope came his way of being healed when they told him of a prophet in Samaria. Without wasting time, Naaman preceded to Samaria in the land of Israel to see the prophet. He expected a royal welcome in the house of Elisha instead, Elisha sent a messenger to him with an instruction for him to go and wash in river Jordan seven times. Naaman was angry, Are there not better river in Syria- Abana, Pharpar and Damascus, how can he be told to go and wash in a common river with common people! He felt humiliated. Pride means to overestimate ones ability, beauty, wealth or rank. Naaman exhibited pride but God helped him to obey the prophet instruction! Do not over hype your worth. Check yourself, are you exhibiting pride? It is pride when you look down on people; it is pride when you feel you cannot be corrected; it is pride when you feel too intelligent and rubbish the ideas of other people ideas. A proud person cannot go on a marathon with God, he will be cut off. A good example is the devil.

KNOW IT ∞ Do not overestimate your worth, be humble!
READ IT ∞ Isaiah 14:12-15, 2 Samuel 16:23, 17:23
PRAY IT ∞ Father, destroy every symptom of pride in my life.

GOD UNDERSTANDS

Topic: GOD UNDERSTANDS
Biblical Text: ‘ And Samuel said, what hast thou done? And Saul said, because I saw that the people were scattered from me, and that thou camest not within the days appointed, and that the Philistines gathered themselves together at Mishmash ‘ [1 Samuel 13:11]
Saul was preparing for battle with the enemies of Israel. God sent Prophet Samuel to King Saul that he should go to Gilgal and stay there for seven days, then wait for Prophet Samuel to come and offer the burnt offering and sacrifices of peace offerings. Saul tarried in Gilgal for seven days as instructed. He saw that the people were leaving him because of the presence of innumerable numbers of philistines army at Mishmash. Saul thought he was losing time. He did not see any reason why he should keep waiting for Samuel to come and perform the sacrifice. He believed God will understand why he had to go against His instruction. He performed the sacrifice! Scarcely had he finished that prophet Samuel came. Sauls punishment was, his kingdom will not continue. Every day, you hear of people who claim they are Christians but have compromised because they feel God will understand. They cheat to pass an examination; they pay bribe to secure an admission; they lie and steal to get their way. They all have a strong impression that God will understand why they had to go against His Word. Brethren, if you want your kingdom to continue, do not join the class of Christians that will go against Gods instruction and believe He will understand.

KNOW IT ∞ God will not understand if you go against His Word.
READ IT ∞ Judges 11:30-40, Acts 5:1-5, Genesis 34:1-2
PRAY IT ∞ Father, help me not to go against your Word.

TOO BUSY

Date: 28.01.2021

Topic: TOO BUSY
Biblical Text: “ And Jesus answered and said unto her, Martha, thou art careful and troubled about many things: But one thing is needful: and Mary hath chosen that good part which shall not be taken away from her’. [Luke 10:41-42]
A son asked his dad how much he made in an hour. The daddy replied, it is none of your business but I earn 500 rand an hour. The boy went further and asked the dad to borrow him 300 rand. At this point, the father was furious; I work hard every day to earn, I do not have time for this childish behaviour. The boy quietly went to his room and shut the door. About an hour later, the father calmed down and decided to give the boy 300 rand. The boy was happy and rushed quietly to his room only to return almost immediately, he said, Daddy, I have 500 rand now. Can I buy an hour of your time? Are your friends, family or even God trying to buy one hour of your time? Are you too busy for God and the things of God? That must be the top priority for every true believer. David as busy as he was, praised God seven times a day and prays to God, three times a day. How can you be too busy to communicate with the one that created you? Quite a number of people are too busy to spend 5 minutes of their day with God. Do not choke yourself and get too busy with the cares and riches of this world. A man that is too busy to relate with God will also be too busy to receive spiritual blessings from the Father. Note that spiritual blessings are far more superior to any other blessing.

KNOW IT ∞ Do not be too busy for God and His service.
READ IT ∞ Luke 8:14, Matthew 6:33, 2 Timothy 2:4
PRAY IT ∞ Father, give me the grace and understanding never to be too busy for you.

BEGIN WITH THE END IN MIND

Date: 27.01.2021

Topic: BEGIN WITH THE END IN MIND
Biblical Text: ‘ O that they were wise, that they understood this, that they would consider their latter end!’ [Deuteronomy 32:29]

There is a classic story about the hare and the tortoise. The tortoise challenged the hare to a race. The hare was surprised, he replied, You are the slowest animal I have ever seen, nevertheless, I will race with you but I am sure, the race will not last a minute, he boasted. The date of the race was fixed. The tortoise discussed with his kinsmen and they hatched a plan. Since they looked alike, they decided to position themselves from the start of the race to the end. They will allow the tortoise that challenged the hare to cross the finish line before the hare. While the tortoise was planning and strategizing towards the race, the hare was boasting around the village. The day of the race came! On starting the race, as fast as the hare ran, he kept meeting a tortoise ahead of him in the race; the tortoise crossed the finish line ahead of the hare! The slowest animal won. Do not underestimate any task, you must begin with the end in mind. To begin with the end in mind is to think about the anticipated end result and what it will make you become. As a wise Christian, we must consider the end of any activity we want to do. Some are in prison today because they did not consider the end result of the bad activities they were engaging it. Amnon decided to hatch an evil plan to sleep with his sister. He did not begin with the end in mind; to consider the repercussion of committing such shameful act. At the end, he paid with His life.
KNOW IT ∞ Begin with the end in mind of any activity you want to engage in.
READ IT ∞ 2 Samuel 13:2, Luke 14:28, Psalm 50:22
PRAY IT ∞ Father, give me the wisdom to always begin any task with the end in mind.
