HIS TRUTH AS A SHIELD AND BUCKLER

Date: 11.04.2021

Topic: HIS TRUTH AS A SHIELD AND BUCKLER
Biblical Text: ‘ He will cover thee with his feathers and under his wings shalt thou trust: His truth shall be thy shield and buckler’ . [Psalm 91:4]

A buckler and a shield are used for similar purposes; to protect and defend during a war. The devil is our adversary always seeking whom to devour. How we defend ourselves from him is by using His Truth as our shield and buckler. His truth is His Word and His Word is Truth . Jesus was not wearing any physical shield and buckler when the devil confronted Him in the wilderness by attacking Him with temptations. Jesus used the Truth (He being the TRUTH) to defend Himself against all the attacks of the devil. The devil left shamefully. The Word of God is your shield and buckler. They tell you that you cannot pass the examination, just put on your shield and buckler and reply them with His Truth which says ‘I will be above and not beneath; I will be the head and not the tail’. David was to go to war with the Philistines; they put heavy armour on him but it was too heavy for him; so he put it off and took on his spiritual armour- His truth ! David told Goliath, ‘you come to me with a sword and shield; but I come to thee in the name of the Lord of host (His Truth was his shield and buckler)’. With the Truth, he defeated Goliath. Whether the devil comes to you subtly or openly to attack you; use His Truth as your shield and buckler. It never fails.

KNOW IT ∞ The Word of God is your shield and buckler
READ IT ∞ Proverbs 30:5, Psalm 115:9, Daniel 3:24-26
PRAY IT ∞ Father, give me the wisdom to always use the Word of God as my shield and buckler.

YOU NEED TO FORGIVE YOURSELF

Date: 10.04.2021

Topic: YOU NEED TO FORGIVE YOURSELF
Biblical Text: “ So shall ye say unto Joseph, forgive, I pray thee now, the trespass of thy brethren and their sin; for they did unto thee evil: and now; we pray thee, forgive the trespass of the servants of the God of thy father. And Joseph wept when they spake unto him. [Genesis 50:17]

Some people never believe that God can forgive without melting out a punishment to them. In the world system, every crime is entitled to punishment; no crime or wrongdoing will go unpunished. Even in the African home setting, there are different forms of punishment for a child that does what is wrong. A lot of people therefore grow up with the mentality that there can be no forgiveness without punishment. So, they believe when God wants to forgive them; He will punish them first. That is a dangerous dimension of belief to hold on to. Judas Iscariot betrayed Jesus, he did not think that God could forgive him, so he went to hang himself. There was a notorious armed robber in Nigeria who after being arrested, was sentenced to death (having killed so many people). In the prison, he found Jesus, received Him and asked for forgiveness of sins. Today, he has been given a state pardon. He is now an evangelist; preaching Christ. He draws strength from the fact that the blood of Jesus has cleaned his past completely. God does not forgive by adding punishment to it. Jesus Christ came to die for our sins; he paid the ultimate penalty for our sins meaning, He suffered the ultimate punishment for our sins. There is no need for a second payment for our sins. There is no sin too big for God to forgive; draw close to Him and let Him make you a brand-new child of God.

KNOW IT ∞ When God forgives, you are forgiven and made new.
READ IT ∞ Genesis 50:15-20; 2 Samuel 12:13-24
PRAY IT ∞ Thank you Jesus, for paying the ultimate price for the total forgiveness of my sins.

WE ARE MORE THAN CONQUERORS

Date: 09.04.2021

Topic: WE ARE MORE THAN CONQUERORS
Biblical Text: ‘ Nay. In all these things we are more than conquerors through him that loved us’ . [Romans 8:37]

A conqueror is one who wins in a war. He is the one who acquires by force. It can also mean to gain, win or obtain by effort. Praise God, through Christ we are more than conquerors. Any battle we engage in or that engages us, we are sure to conquer. Before the battle begins, we have the assurance that we will conquer; in the battle, we are absolutely confident we will conquer and after the battle, we are sure to be the victorious one because we are conquerors. We can conquer by defeating our adversary physically or otherwise. There was a physical battle between Apostle Paul and Elymas the sorcerer. Elymas, the sorcerer tried to oppose Paul so that the deputy of the country Sergus Paulus will not give his life to Christ. Paul controlled by the Holy Spirit spoke that Elymas would be blind for a season, which happened immediately and gave an opportunity for the deputy to receive the good news of Jesus. Here, by force, Apostle Paul obtained victory. We can also conquer when we overcome an abstract obstacle. Though, the obstacle is not physically seen, it might be affecting us. Again, Apostle Paul conquered fear when he said; he was ready to die for the name of Jesus at Jerusalem despite knowing ahead what will likely befall him at Jerusalem. He conquered fear. Whether the devil is roaring or howling, we are conquerors, that is settled; nothing can alter what God says we are! You can conquer fear, defeat, disappointment and failure because God said so! Halleluyah!

KNOW IT ∞ You are more than conquerors.
READ IT ∞ Acts 21:13, 13:8-11
PRAY IT ∞ Father, thank you for making us more than conquerors in the battles of life in Jesus Name.

THE PAST HURTS

Date: 08.04.2021

Topic: THE PAST HURTS
Biblical Text: “ And Mahlon and Chilon died also, both of them, so the woman was bereft of her two sons and her husband”. [Ruth 1:5]

I met a young man who was working in the military but lost his job in a most mysterious circumstance. He was framed for what he did not do and due to lack of substantial evidence to prove his innocence he was relieved of his duties. The hurt of losing the job affected the young man to the extent that he stopped serving God. I ministered to him and trusted the Lord that he will be restored both spiritually and physically. We all will have periods of hurts in our lives, that should not stop us from serving God or trusting in Him. When the past hurts, we must not neglect God because we are hurting, this is not ideal! Naomi, the wife of Elimelech lost her two sons and husband in a foreign land. It was a hurtful past but she trusted God to help her overcome the past. She decided to return to her own country which is Judah; one of her daughters- in law- Ruth a Moabite, insisted she will follow her to Judah. Because Naomi held on to God to heal her past, God strengthened her and gave her a daughter- in law- Ruth that was regarded as better than seven sons in the eyes of people of Judah. Ruth remarried and gave birth to a son-Obed who Naomi then nurtured up as her son. Obed was the father of Jesse, who was the father of David, the lineage through which Christ came. We must trust God to heal our past that hurts rather than run away from Him. It may be a broken courtship that is hurting you; trust in God to heal your past and bring something better like He did for Naomi.

KNOW IT ∞ Do not dwell on your hurtful past, God has a sweeter future for you.
READ IT ∞ Ruth 1:3-18, Luke 22:61-62, Job 42:8
PRAY IT ∞ Father, heal my past and give me a sweeter future to erase the hurtful past in Jesus Name.

YOU CANNOT DO IT ALONE

Date: 07.04.2021

Topic: YOU CAN NOT DO IT ALONE
Biblical Text: ‘I have planted, Apollos watered, but God gave the increase’ . [1 Corinthians 3:6]

I recently came up with an analogy. In the football world, one of the highest paid footballer in the world is Christiano Ronaldo. He earns an average of 30 million euros per year meaning he earns about 576,923 euros in a week. When you convert that to Naira, he earns a whopping 300 million naira per week. The combined wages of footballers playing in the Nigerian Premier league is not up to 264 million naira per week. But do you think Christiano Ronaldo with all his skills can win against 22 players in the Nigerian Premier League if the players were selected to play against him alone? Your answer is as good as mine: Christiano Ronaldo with all his skills does not stand a chance to win. Though, he earns so much, he cannot do it alone. Look at an interesting story of Moses; he told Joshua to choose men to go and fight the Amalekites. He said as long as his hands were up, they would be victorious. So they left to fight the Amalekites and true to Moses words, as long as his hands were up, they smote the Amalekites but soon he got tired; his hands were heavy and he put down his hands, then the Amalekites prevailed. Thank God for Aaron and Hur who lifted up his hands to ensure Joshua discomfited the Amalekites. Do not see yourself as an Island that can do it alone; you must never be too proud to think it is only you God needs to achieve an assignment. You need people to support and encourage you all the way. Respect and value others.

KNOW IT ∞ God will bring people your way to achieve the vision He has put in you. You cannot do it alone.
READ IT ∞ Proverbs 27:17, Ecclesiastes 4:9, Exodus 17:9-13
PRAY IT ∞ Father, send people my way who will help me to fulfill your purpose for my life.

WE HAVE THE MIND OF CHRIST

Date: 06.04.2021

Topic: WE HAVE THE MIND OF CHRIST
Biblical Text: “ For who hath known the mind of the Lord, that he may instruct him? But we have the mind of Christ ”. [1 Corinthians 2:16]

Some years back, It was all over the news of a 26 years old Nigerian secondary school graduate named Emeka Nelson that invented a generator that runs on water. Though, Emeka is not a certified Engineer, he is keen on solving problems. He currently uses his invention to power his 2- bedroom bungalow. This to me is a major technological breakthrough invented by a secondary school graduate. Every believer likewise, has a mind of amazing incomprehensible capabilities because it has the mind of Christ. The mind of Christ is a creative mind capable of birthing the unimaginable and the impossible. The mind of Christ enables you to think and reason like Christ. Every believer that has the mind of Christ is wise but not all wise men have the mind of Christ. For wise men that do not have the mind of Christ, there is a limitation to what they can think or achieve. But a believer that has the mind of Christ do not have a limitation to what they can achieve or think because there is no limitation with God. Pharaoh had magicians and wise men that were all unbelievers; they could not interpret his dream- that was their limitation; Joseph on the other hand who had the mind of Christ interpreted the dream and gave solutions of what they should do. The mind of Christ is the glory that separates the believer from the unbeliever. God does not want the mind He has given us to be fallow; He wants us to put it to good use in all facets of our lives- academics, business, career, ministry and marital life. So you need to put it to good use today!

KNOW IT ∞ God has given every believer His mind to uplift us to the extraordinary sphere in life.
READ IT ∞ Philippians 2:5, Luke 2:47, Acts 6:8-10
PRAY IT ∞ Father, thank you for giving me the mind of Christ to achieve great things in Jesus Name.

THE POTENCY OF THE WORD

Date: 05.04.2021

Topic: THE POTENCY OF THE WORD
Biblical Text: ‘ He sent his word and healed them, and delivered them from their destruction ‘. [Psalm 107:20]

A centurion came to Jesus beseeching him to come and heal his servant who lieth at home sick of paralysis. Jesus told him, He will come and heal him. When the centurion saw the great signs and wonders Jesus did; he noticed Jesus was a man of authority so he said to Jesus, ‘ You are a man of authority , you do not need to come to my house, just speak the Word and my servant will be healed ‘. The centurion understood the potency of the Word of God. The servant was healed the same hour that Jesus spoke the Word. The Word of God is potent. To be potent means to be powerful and effective. The word of God healed the blind man, restores broken marriages, delivers from death and it enables you to possess your possession. Simon Peter and his team of fishermen had toiled all night but caught nothing; but when the Word came, it changed their story; they enclosed a great multitude of fishes. The Word of God can reverse every irreversible; it can penetrate any barrier. There is no long-lasting problem that can withstand the Word. The Word of God shatters every problem to pieces. The Word of God is powerfully effective to tackle any situation that confronts you; leaving only one vanquish. A man that builds himself up in the Word of God becomes a carrier of the potency available in the Word. To be powerfully effective in all that you do, build yourself up in the Word.

KNOW IT ∞ The Word of God is powerfully effective and it is a potent tool in the hand of the believer.
READ IT ∞ Luke 5:5-6, Matthew 8:5-13, Hebrews 4:12
PRAY IT ∞ Father, give me the understanding to be a partaker of the potency in the Word in Jesus Name.

HE IS RISEN

Date: 04.04.2021

Topic: HE IS RISEN!
Biblical Text: ‘If in this life only we have hope in Christ, we are of all men most miserable. But now is Christ risen from the dead, and become the first fruits of them that slept’ . [1 Corinthians 15:19-20]

I am always excited to shout it, even on the mountain top that Jesus is risen! He is alive. Praise God! The essence of Christianity is the risen Christ. Apostle Paul said that if Christ is not risen, then our preaching is vain and our faith vain. The resurrection of Jesus on the third day is an indicator that if we believe in Jesus, we will resurrect too in like manner on the last day. Our lives are not miserable. The significance is that Christians do not die rather they are translated to a better life- everlasting life , a life of pleasure, joy and everlasting rest. The unbelieving Jews under the control of the devil rolled a big stone on top of the sepulcher of Jesus and also set a watch around the sepulcher to ensure that the prophecy that he had earlier given about His resurrection will not come to pass. But death could not hold him captive, He arose from the grave; He is risen, He is alive! If not for Jesus, we could have perished in our sins. His resurrection from the dead gave us victory over death and our sins, Halleluyah! Jesus is alive!

KNOW IT ∞ Death is swallowed up in victory, Christ is risen!

IT CAN BE EASY

Date: 01.04.2021

Topic: IT CAN BE EASY
Biblical Text: ‘ For my yoke is easy and my burden is light’. [Matthew 11:30]

I had an acquaintance who was good in a lot of things; he was a professional salesman with a Masters degree in Business Administration; he can do tiling; he can paint; he can produce paints; he is into fish farming and a lot more. But with all these skills, he struggled to reach the heights of building a profitable business in any of them. It was not easy for him. He once said, sometimes I work like an elephant but eat like an ant. God wants our lives to be easy and that includes all the activities that concern our lives. Without Jesus, life can never be easy. You might be at a point where you have tried everything; you have worked very hard and become weary; yet no significant progress has been made. Why not turn to Jesus; it can be easy. I discovered early that anything I am struggling with is because God is not in it. I abandon it immediately, no matter how far I have gone. Papa Oyedepo of Living Faith Church said they were struggling to grow a Church branch overseas; they tried everything, but it was not working. After two years, he enquired from the Lord and the Lord said, ‘it will not work because I am not there’. Papa Oyedepo abandoned it immediately. Our life can be easy if we ensure God is in all we are laboring to build. Take time out to seek for a confirmation from the Lord and wait for Him to speak before you launch out. God does not want things to be difficult for us but easy, ONLY on the things that He approves. If you are experiencing difficulty in any venture, pause for a moment and seek the face of God, let him lead you to easier paths. It will be easy for you in Jesus Name.

KNOW IT ∞ Life can be easy with Jesus backing you.

PRAY IT ∞ Father, thank you for making all that I do according to your instruction to be easy in Jesus Name.

MISSIONARY STORY, AMY CARMICHAEL

Date: 31.03.2021

Topic: MISSIONARY STORY- AMY CARMICHAEL
Biblical Text: “ Therefore my beloved brethren, be steadfast, immovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, knowing that your labour is not in vain in the Lord”. [1 Corinthians 15:58]

Amy Beatrice Carmichael was born on December 16, 1867 in the village on the northern coast of Ireland. Young Carmichael was a precocious child who spent her days exploring. Amy’s hunger for adventure repeatedly got her into trouble. God placed clear spiritual guideposts in Amy Carmichael’s life to lead her on the road to India. Amy gave her life to Christ when she was sixteen years old. She attended series of Christian meeting that made her grow spiritually. On a snowy night, January 13, 1892, twenty four year old Amy spent the evening in her room in prayers reflecting on the lost and dying millions throughout the world. As clearly as if she heard her mother’s voice, she heard the words, ‘Go ye’ in her heart. Everything around her seemed to be repeating, ‘Go ye’. In God’s providence, she received a letter from a friend in Bangalore, India writing her to join the Church of England mission there. Amy was delighted. She accepted the offer. Amy was a selfless missionary who dedicated her life to loving the unloved children of southern India; transforming thousands of India lives in more than fifty five years of service. Amy saw the Christian life as a chance to die to oneself, so that Christ might be revealed. Amy often declared about her hardworking toil among the people of India, ‘I would rather burn out than rust out!’ At the time of Amy’s death, over half a million of her books had been printed in English. Several titles had been translated into 15 different languages and twelve had been printed in Braille. Amy made impact for Christ; receive grace to impact your generation too!

KNOW IT ∞ To make impact for Jesus, we must devote our heart and soul to serving Jesus Christ.
READ IT ∞ Psalm 143:8-10
PRAY IT ∞ Father, I receive grace for my heart and soul to be completely devoted to you.
