YOUR INNER CIRCLE

Topic: YOUR INNER CIRCLE
Biblical Text: “ Blessed is the man that walketh not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor standeth in the way of the sinners nor sitteth in the seat of the scornful’. [Psalm 1:1]

Akin was a decent young man brought up in a godly home. His parents were well educated; the father at that time was a professor in a federal university in Nigeria. Akins parents decided to send him to study at a University in the United Kingdom. His admission was duly granted and he travelled to the United Kingdom. To sort out his accommodation in the new school, Akin was asked to state the choice of his preferable housemates. Here, Akin made a grievous mistake; he stated he could stay with any student. He was promptly allocated a room with an Italian (who was a drug addict) and a Spaniard addicted to rock music. Before long, Akin began to indulge in alcohol consumption and smoking until he became addicted. By the end of his first year in the school, the school authorities could no longer cope with him. He was withdrawn from the university. A glorious destiny was aborted by the choice of his inner circle. Amnon chose an ungodly inner circle in Jonadab who advised him on how to commit fornication with his sister. His wrong inner circle led to his death. Beloved, be careful of the friends in your inner circle. You must ensure your inner circle of friends is drawing you closer to God and not away from God. Being drawn away from God can lead to termination of Gods divine plan for your life.

KNOW IT ∞ Be careful of your friends in your inner circle.
READ IT ∞ 2 Samuel 13:3-5, 28-29, Genesis 3:1-7
PRAY IT ∞ Father, give me grace to dissociate from ungodly friends in my inner circle.

FINISH WHAT YOU START

Date: 01.02.2021

Topic: FINISH WHAT YOU START
Biblical Text: “ Now when Paul and his company loosed from Paphos, they came to Perga in Pamphylia: and John departing from them returned to Jerusalem.’ [ Acts 13:13]

John Stephen Akhwari was a marathon runner who represented Tanzania in the marathon in 1968. Akhwari was never likely to win the marathon but his chances were wrecked when, perhaps because of the effects of the high altitude, he succumbed to cramps that slowed his progress. Akhwari fell to the ground, gashing his knee and also causing dislocation. Most observers seeing the injuries, assumed he would pull out and go to Hospital. He did not pull out, 18 out of the 75 starters already pull out; he did not wish to join that number. Akhwari crossed the line in last place, having reached the stadium limping and bandage all round his leg. Asked why he carried on, his response was, My country did not send me 5,000 miles to start the race, he said. They sent me 5,000 miles to finish the race. Paul, Barnabas and John had a missionary assignment to do in Perga. However, on getting to Perga, John did not wait to complete the missionary assignment with them, he departed from them to Jerusalem. Later on, he wanted to follow them but Paul objected. He cannot work with someone that will not finish what he starts. Do not have several uncompleted projects in your life without finishing a single one. If you have the leading of the Holy Spirit on a given task, finish it; do not abandon it halfway. Trust in the Lord to help you finish it!

KNOW IT ∞ Trust the Lord to help you finish what you start.
READ IT ∞ Acts 15:38, Hebrews 12:1, 2 Corinthians 8:11
PRAY IT ∞ Father, give the grace to finish what I start.

MISSIONARY STORY – DAVID LIVINGSTONE

Date: 31.01.2021

Topic: MISSIONARY STORY- DAVID LIVINGSTONE (1813-1873)
Biblical Text: ‘ Also I heard the voice of the Lord saying, whom shall I send, and who will go for us? Then said I, here am I, send me’ . [Isaiah 6:8]

God send me anywhere, only go with me. Lay any burden on me, only sustain me. And sever any tie in my heart, except the tie binds my heart to yours said David Livingstone. He was ready to go where no man has gone for God. David Livingstone is celebrated as Africas greatest missionary and the most famous of the nineteenth century British explorers. His heroic role as a missionary/explorer yielded astonishing results in the geographical mapping of Africas interior. He was the first European to travel over 40,000 miles in Africa largely on foot and with no prior knowledge of what was hidden in the vast wasteland. He was undaunted by fears of the unknown and had an unyielding tenacity to complete whatever task lay before him, he was dedicated to opening Africa for Christianity. Dependent on divine guidance, Livingstone became one of Gods missionary generals who committed his life to this three Cs: Christianity, Civilization and Commerce. He was convinced that advancing these three objectives would ultimately bring Christ to Africa. And he was determined to succeed no matter the cost. His relentless driving force was based on the same vision of Apostle Paul, So I have strived to preach the Gospel, not where Christ was named, lest I should build upon another mans foundation.
KNOW IT ∞ Be prepared to allow God to send you anywhere for His work.
READ IT ∞ Romans 15:20
PRAY IT ∞ Father, I am ready to go anywhere you want to send me.

IS IT PRIDE?

Date: 30.01.2021

Topic: IS IT PRIDE?
Biblical Text: “ Are not Abana and Pharpar rivers of Damascus better than all the waters of Israel? May I not wash in them and be clean? So he turned and went away in a rage’ . [2 Kings 5:12]

Naaman was a great and honourable man in the land of Syria but he was a leper. Hope came his way of being healed when they told him of a prophet in Samaria. Without wasting time, Naaman preceded to Samaria in the land of Israel to see the prophet. He expected a royal welcome in the house of Elisha instead, Elisha sent a messenger to him with an instruction for him to go and wash in river Jordan seven times. Naaman was angry, Are there not better river in Syria- Abana, Pharpar and Damascus, how can he be told to go and wash in a common river with common people! He felt humiliated. Pride means to overestimate ones ability, beauty, wealth or rank. Naaman exhibited pride but God helped him to obey the prophet instruction! Do not over hype your worth. Check yourself, are you exhibiting pride? It is pride when you look down on people; it is pride when you feel you cannot be corrected; it is pride when you feel too intelligent and rubbish the ideas of other people ideas. A proud person cannot go on a marathon with God, he will be cut off. A good example is the devil.

KNOW IT ∞ Do not overestimate your worth, be humble!
READ IT ∞ Isaiah 14:12-15, 2 Samuel 16:23, 17:23
PRAY IT ∞ Father, destroy every symptom of pride in my life.

GOD UNDERSTANDS

Topic: GOD UNDERSTANDS
Biblical Text: ‘ And Samuel said, what hast thou done? And Saul said, because I saw that the people were scattered from me, and that thou camest not within the days appointed, and that the Philistines gathered themselves together at Mishmash ‘ [1 Samuel 13:11]
Saul was preparing for battle with the enemies of Israel. God sent Prophet Samuel to King Saul that he should go to Gilgal and stay there for seven days, then wait for Prophet Samuel to come and offer the burnt offering and sacrifices of peace offerings. Saul tarried in Gilgal for seven days as instructed. He saw that the people were leaving him because of the presence of innumerable numbers of philistines army at Mishmash. Saul thought he was losing time. He did not see any reason why he should keep waiting for Samuel to come and perform the sacrifice. He believed God will understand why he had to go against His instruction. He performed the sacrifice! Scarcely had he finished that prophet Samuel came. Sauls punishment was, his kingdom will not continue. Every day, you hear of people who claim they are Christians but have compromised because they feel God will understand. They cheat to pass an examination; they pay bribe to secure an admission; they lie and steal to get their way. They all have a strong impression that God will understand why they had to go against His Word. Brethren, if you want your kingdom to continue, do not join the class of Christians that will go against Gods instruction and believe He will understand.

KNOW IT ∞ God will not understand if you go against His Word.
READ IT ∞ Judges 11:30-40, Acts 5:1-5, Genesis 34:1-2
PRAY IT ∞ Father, help me not to go against your Word.

TOO BUSY

Date: 28.01.2021

Topic: TOO BUSY
Biblical Text: “ And Jesus answered and said unto her, Martha, thou art careful and troubled about many things: But one thing is needful: and Mary hath chosen that good part which shall not be taken away from her’. [Luke 10:41-42]
A son asked his dad how much he made in an hour. The daddy replied, it is none of your business but I earn 500 rand an hour. The boy went further and asked the dad to borrow him 300 rand. At this point, the father was furious; I work hard every day to earn, I do not have time for this childish behaviour. The boy quietly went to his room and shut the door. About an hour later, the father calmed down and decided to give the boy 300 rand. The boy was happy and rushed quietly to his room only to return almost immediately, he said, Daddy, I have 500 rand now. Can I buy an hour of your time? Are your friends, family or even God trying to buy one hour of your time? Are you too busy for God and the things of God? That must be the top priority for every true believer. David as busy as he was, praised God seven times a day and prays to God, three times a day. How can you be too busy to communicate with the one that created you? Quite a number of people are too busy to spend 5 minutes of their day with God. Do not choke yourself and get too busy with the cares and riches of this world. A man that is too busy to relate with God will also be too busy to receive spiritual blessings from the Father. Note that spiritual blessings are far more superior to any other blessing.

KNOW IT ∞ Do not be too busy for God and His service.
READ IT ∞ Luke 8:14, Matthew 6:33, 2 Timothy 2:4
PRAY IT ∞ Father, give me the grace and understanding never to be too busy for you.

BEGIN WITH THE END IN MIND

Date: 27.01.2021

Topic: BEGIN WITH THE END IN MIND
Biblical Text: ‘ O that they were wise, that they understood this, that they would consider their latter end!’ [Deuteronomy 32:29]

There is a classic story about the hare and the tortoise. The tortoise challenged the hare to a race. The hare was surprised, he replied, You are the slowest animal I have ever seen, nevertheless, I will race with you but I am sure, the race will not last a minute, he boasted. The date of the race was fixed. The tortoise discussed with his kinsmen and they hatched a plan. Since they looked alike, they decided to position themselves from the start of the race to the end. They will allow the tortoise that challenged the hare to cross the finish line before the hare. While the tortoise was planning and strategizing towards the race, the hare was boasting around the village. The day of the race came! On starting the race, as fast as the hare ran, he kept meeting a tortoise ahead of him in the race; the tortoise crossed the finish line ahead of the hare! The slowest animal won. Do not underestimate any task, you must begin with the end in mind. To begin with the end in mind is to think about the anticipated end result and what it will make you become. As a wise Christian, we must consider the end of any activity we want to do. Some are in prison today because they did not consider the end result of the bad activities they were engaging it. Amnon decided to hatch an evil plan to sleep with his sister. He did not begin with the end in mind; to consider the repercussion of committing such shameful act. At the end, he paid with His life.
KNOW IT ∞ Begin with the end in mind of any activity you want to engage in.
READ IT ∞ 2 Samuel 13:2, Luke 14:28, Psalm 50:22
PRAY IT ∞ Father, give me the wisdom to always begin any task with the end in mind.

KEEP YOUR CHASTITY

Date: 26.01.2021

Topic: KEEP YOUR CHASTITY
Biblical Text: ‘I made a covenant with mine eyes, why then should I think upon a maid?’ [Job 31:1]

A new study by the University of Seattle and the Fred Hutchinson cancer research center reports that women retain and carry living DNA from every man with whom they have sexual intercourse. According to the study 63% of the women (37 of 59) tested, harbored male microchimerism in the brain. The researchers discovered that the major source of the male DNA cells is through sex. This has a very important ramification for women. Every male a woman absorbs spermatozoa from becomes a living part of her life for life! People have tried to dispute this startling revelation but without concrete research as stated above. We also know that when a man and woman are having a sexual relationship, there will likely be an emotional and lustful attachment. This cannot be disputed! Some demonic advice circulating among youths is the need to have sex in order to be mature. Premarital sex destroys! Some also feel outdated if they do not have sex partners since almost everyone approves of it. Beloved, the standard of God has not changed. Chastity is a virtue which can be defined as refraining from unreasonable sexual conduct or romantic relationship. It can mean someone pure, modest, undefiled, a virgin or faithful married couple. God killed 23,000 people in one day for neglecting the importance of chastity. What God does not approve, do not indulge in it. The opinion of the world does not matter. Keep your chastity.
KNOW IT ∞ What God does not approve, do not indulge. The opinion of the world does not matter.
READ IT ∞ 1 Corinthians 10:8, Colossians 3:5, Hebrews 13:4
PRAY IT ∞ Father, give me the grace to keep my chastity.

ZERO TO HERO PART 2

Date: 25.01.2021

Topic: ZERO TO HERO- MANNY PACQUIAO PART 2
Biblical Text: “ For I know the thoughts that I think towards you, saith the Lord, thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give you an expected end”. [Jeremiah 29:11]

Manny Pacquicao was born on December 17, 1978, in one of the poorest slums in Philippines. He is the fourth among six siblings. His parents separated when he was in sixth grade. Due to extreme poverty, Pacquicao dropped out of school and ran away from home at the age of 12. He sold bread and worked at construction sites before joining the Philippine national amateur boxing team. He went to the United States and made his debut in boxing as a last-minute replacement to fight one of the super bantam weight division most feared champion. He won the fight convincingly and went on to become the first and only eight division champion. However, he had series of setbacks ranging from gambling, alcoholism and womanizing which affected him negatively. One day, he heard God ask him, My child, why have you gone astray? He cried, gave his life to Christ and that ignited his hunger and desire for the Word of God. Pacquicao secured 10 world titles under his belt with a boxing record of 57 wins! He knew Jesus took him from a nobody to a somebody. Pacquicao publicly affirms his faith in Jesus Christ. For God to take you from a zero to a hero, you must give your life to Christ and talk about Him at the slightest opportunity just like Manny.
KNOW IT ∞ Accepting Jesus into your life is the catalyst for God to take you from a zero to a hero.
READ IT ∞ Psalm 8:4, 111:5, 115:12
PRAY IT ∞ Father, give me the grace to publicly affirm my believe in you as you make me a hero.

ZERO TO HERO PART 1

Date: 24.01.2021

Topic: ZERO TO HERO- GIDEON PART 1
Biblical Text: ‘ And the Lord looked upon him, and said, Go in this thy might, and thou shalt save Israel from the hand of the Midianites; have not I sent thee?” [Judges 6:14]
The children of Israel did evil in the sight of the Lord and He delivered them into the hands of the Midianites. The Midianites plundered their land until there was nothing left in the land of Israel. The Israelites cried unto the Lord, seeking forgiveness and he heard them. He promised to deliver them. But who did He choose? God did not choose someone from a wealthy family; He did not choose a well-known warrior. God chose Gideon. Gideon at the time God chose him was a zero! Gideon said, Lord, how can I lead the children of Israel, my family is poor and I am the least in my fathers house. The Lord told him, Son, I am not looking for someone that has a rich credentials, I will use you and take you from a zero to a hero. In making Gideon a hero, God told Gideon and his 300 chosen men to go to battle with the Midianites and Amalekites who had an army of over 135,000 soldiers. And God gave Gideon victory! Do not look down on yourself. One of the critical factors that made Gideon a hero was the sensitivity to hear the voice of God and the promptness to obey the instructions God gave him. When God told him not to go to battle with the 32,000 men he initially gathered, he obeyed. Even you, God can take you from the low position you presently occupy to the highest position in life if you can be sensitive to hear His voice and to obey Him.
KNOW IT ∞ Listen to the voice of God and obey Him so He can take you from zero to hero
READ IT ∞ Judges 7:7, 8:10, 8:28
PRAY IT ∞ Father, give me the grace to hear your voice and to obey you as you make me a hero.
